REQUEST FOR BID

Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, San Diego, sealed bids for a lump sum Contract are requested for the following work:

CAMPUS CROSSWALK ADA BUTTON REPLACEMENT

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:  The project include the removal of Forty-Two (42) existing crosswalk buttons, replace with new Polara EN2 crosswalk buttons and program all at the following 7 locations to meet ADA standards:
1. Eight (8) buttons at Campus Point and Voigt Drive,
2. Four (4) buttons at Voigt Drive and MTS Bus Stop south of Preuss School,
3. Four (4) buttons at Gilman and Villa La Jolla,
4. Six (6) buttons at Gilman and Russell,
5. Eight (8) buttons at Gilman and Myers,
6. Eight (8) buttons at Gilman and Osler and
7. Four (4) buttons at Villa La Jolla at VA hospital.

New crosswalk buttons utilize the existing wires. Existing buttons shall be returned to the University.

at or before 2:00 P.M, THURSDAY, MAY 9, 2019 for furnishing all labor, materials, services, and equipment to complete the Work described below in accordance with the enclosed Bidding Documents.
MANDATORY PRE-BID JOB WALK:
A mandatory Pre-Bid Job Walk will be conducted on MONDAY, APRIL 29, 2019 beginning promptly at 10:00 A.M. Only bidders who participate in the Job Walk will be allowed to bid on the Project as prime contractors. Participants shall meet at Osler Parking structure at the corner of Gilman Drive and Osler Lane. UC San Diego maps can be found at http://maps.ucsd.edu.  Attendees should plan to arrive in ample time to secure parking prior to the scheduled meeting time.
For construction value between $300,000 and $640,000, Bidder and its mechanical, electrical and plumbing subcontractor(s) (if using) shall be qualified under the University’s standards prior to award.

The successful Bidder will be required to have the following California current and active contractor's license at the time of submission of the Bid: C-10 Electrical Contractor

The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code.

No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for this project (submitted on or after March 1, 2015) unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)].

No contractor or subcontractor may be awarded any portion of this project (awarded on or after April 1, 2015) unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5. Contractors and subcontractors must use the DIR’s upgraded electronic certified payroll reporting (eCPR) system to furnish certified payroll records (CPRs) to the Labor Commissioner. Contractors and subcontractors who have been submitting PDF copies of their CPRs for earlier projects must also begin using the new system. [UPDATE: Per DIR News Release No. 2016-54 dated May 19, 2016, “Enforcement of the Requirement to Submit Electronic Certified Payroll Reports to DIR to Resume in August.”]

ALL CONTRACTORS AND SUBCONTRACTORS MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS (DIR) AT BID TIME.

The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $13 per hour as of 10/1/15, $14 per hour as of 10/1/16, and $15 per hour as of 10/1/17) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements.

Estimated construction cost: $103,500.00
