Project Title Computer Science and Engineering Addition
RFQ Text UC San Diego will be selecting an Executive Architect to perform programming planning, design, cost estimating, bidding assistance and construction administration phase services for an addition to the first floor with a connection to the basement research labs. The project involves approximately 7,400 GSF of the overall 86,000 GSF floor plate and the proposed scope includes the addition of “Visible Labs”, a conference room, and a major stair connection to the Basement Floor.  The building structural system is steel with a bolted moment frame.  The basement retaining walls are poured-in-place concrete and the exterior is a combination of pre-cast concrete panels and aluminum and glass curtainwall.  The new 4,370 GSF addition and renovation must be consistent with the Warren College Neighborhood Guidelines.  Specific upgrades include but are not limited to: expansion of the existing underground retaining walls, fire/smoke detection systems, fire rating components, fire protection systems, HVAC system renovation, and upgrade of the existing electrical system including interior lighting and standby power requirements. Other upgrades include: accessibility compliance, minor landscaping and new interior finishes including casework and ceiling treatment that will connect with the existing systems.

The University plans to proceed with construction in March of 2015 and occupy by November of 2015. The total construction cost estimate is $3,727,000 at CCCI 5740.
