Project Title 4864 Graduate and Professional Student Housing – East Campus GEOTECHNICAL TESTING & OBSERVATION TESTING
RFQ Text University of California, San Diego will be selecting a firm to provide Geotechnical Testing and Observation Services on the subject project.

The overall proposed project would include new construction of five apartment buildings, ranging in height from four to eight stories, and a new multi-story parking structure on a 17 acre site. The project would provide approximately 442,000 assignable square feet (ASF) of housing space, including community and support spaces distributed throughout the facilities. The buildings would include approximately 850 micro-apartments (similar to studios) and 250 one-, two- and three-bedroom traditional apartments, providing about 1,355 beds for graduate and professional students and students with dependents.  Approximately 900 parking spaces would be provided in a new structure with some surface parking located adjacent to key access points. The project includes site work, roadway construction, parking lots, retaining walls, storm drainage system, underground 12kV, electrical, telecommunications, domestic and reclaimed water and landscaping and drywell storm water collectors.
 
The selected firm will provide geotechnical testing and observations services during earthwork, foundation, retaining wall, drywell installation, flatwork and parking lot construction for the planned Graduate and Professional Student Housing – East Campus project at the University of California, San Diego.  Services will be required starting as early as October 2015 and will continue through February, 2017. The services provided will be sufficient to determine if the geotechnical aspect of the earthwork and retaining wall construction are conducted in general accordance with the approved drawings, specifications and recommendations provided in our geotechnical report.

The complete scope of work is delineated in the project plans and specifications.   Respondents are to provide an estimate for geotechnical testing and observation services based upon the schedule, plans and specifications referenced and current prevailing wage criteria.  Due to the size of the files, the documents will be issued on a compact disc.  The cds are available for pick up at UC San Diego, Facilities Design & Construction, 10280 North Torrey Pines Road, Suite 465, La Jolla, CA 92037.  Should you need a cd overnighted to you, at your cost, please contact Jennifer Mora at 858.822.6401, jjmora@ucsd.edu.
A firm will be selected based on the following criteria:

A. Related experience on similar projects.
B. Proposed staff experience (include résumés).
C. Provide Standard Billing Rate Sheet
D. References.
E. Estimate
a. Of total Fee for the duration of the project.
b. Material Testing shall take place within 30 miles of the project location

One electronic copy on CD or flash drive, in pdf format, should be submitted, with any graphic images, spreadsheets or pages larger than 8.5” x 11” submitted in landscape view.  No paper copies requested.  Proposals are due no later than 4:00 P.M., WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2015.
